Welcome to the site of the Hedgelayer,
I am a conservation contractor and hedgelayer.
I published this site to show rural skills and crafts from around the world
Having an interest in rural history and enjoying walking the countryside.
Enrolling in a HNC Countryside Management course,
The year 2000 I left the engineering industry and started to professionally lay hedge rows.
This, in turn led me to take my tree climbing and the associated disciplines of tree work. Been asked if I would run workshops and training courses I trained to become a L.A.N.T.R.A instructor in hedgelaying.
My interest in countryside history and the folklore started when I had to coppicing my own stakes and binders for hedgelaying, which in-turn made me more interested in green wood-working.
This site is for people who wish to take an interest in rural crafts and who wish to learn more about crafts and traditions.
Please post through the site. (See terms & conditions)
I also run courses for basic and advanced hedgelaying these can enclude coppicing / woodland management.
