Welcome to the site of the Hedgelayer.
I am a conservation contractor and hedgelayer, having an interest in rural history and enjoying walking the countryside.
2000 I left the engineering industry and started to professionally lay hedgerows.
This, in turn led me to take my tree climbing and the associated disciplines of tree work.
Being asked if I would run workshops and training courses I became a L.A.N.T.R.A instructor in hedgelaying. My interest in countryside history and the folklore started when I studied for my HNC in Countryside Management and having had to coppice my own stakes and binders for hedgelaying.
Which in-turn made me more interested in green wood-working.
This site is for people who wish to take an interest in rural crafts and who wish to learn more about crafts and traditions.
I also run courses for basic and advanced hedgelaying these can include coppicing / woodland management. The background video was taken while hedgelaying.
